Updated UK Import Rules: Safety & Security ENS Declarations | Cargo Filing

Great Britain (Safety and Security GB)

  • The Great Britain implemented its Safety and Security (S&S GB) declaration requirements for imports starting January 31, 2025. 
  • To submit S&S GB filings, hauliers and importers must obtain a unique Great Britain EORI number issued by UK Customs. Separate EORI numbers are required for companies trading with both the Great Britain and the EU. 
  • The S&S GB Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) must be submitted before goods arrive in Great Britain. Timely and accurate filing is critical to avoid delays. 
  • Filings must include consignor and consignee details, cargo descriptions, and transport information, including border entry points and estimated arrival times. 
  • Non-compliance or incorrect filings can result in cargo being delayed at the border, penalties, or refusal of entry by Great Britain Customs. 
  • Consignor name, address & EORI number 
  • Consignee name, address & EORI number 
  • Carrier’s Great Britain EORI number (if driver-accompanied) 
  • Description of goods 
  • Harmonized System Code (HTS 6 digits) 
  • Number of packages 
  • Total Gross Weight 
  • Type of packaging 
  • Vehicle identification number (if applicable) 
  • Border entry point (port name or HMRC code) 
  • Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) 
  • Marks and reference numbers 
  • Transport Document Number (e.g., CMR or equivalent) (if applicable)
